Mama June Is Still Estranged From Her Mother Sandra Hale — See a Timeline of Their Feud
This mother-daughter duo still has bad blood. On last night’s never-before-seen moments episode of Mama June: From Not to Hot, fans rewatched a moment from Sugar Bear’s wedding to wife Jennifer Lamb, and fans remember that Mama June‘s own estranged mother Sandra Hale was invited and Sandra said some nasty words about her own daughter.
“Lord, I wouldn’t have done that to my body if it’d been me,” Sandy told a pal, criticizing June’s dramatic weight loss. “She needs to do something with her hair. Her roots are showing.”
But why was Sandra so mean to June? Let’s just say that the 38-year-old — who is mother to Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, Anna “Chickadee” Shannon, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, and Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon — didn’t have the nicest of things to say about her estranged mama, Sandra Hale either and their feud goes way back. The feud began in 2003.
Complications with Mama June and her mother Sandra’s relationship go way back — all the way back to Mama June’s romance with Mark McDaniel. Fans will remember that June’s daughter Anna filed child molestation charges against Mama June’s ex-boyfriend, alleging that he had repeatedly molested her from the time she was 8 years old.
At the time of Anna’s sexual molestation, she told her teacher that her mom’s boyfriend Mark repeatedly assaulted her, according to the Daily Mail. Anna’s grandmother, Sandra, immediately took action.
“I took [Anna] to the police department and filed the charges on her behalf because she was a minor. I was looking out for her best interest and I wasn’t going to let this go away and from there, the police detectives came down and said, ‘We’re going after him,'” Sandra told Entertainment Tonight.

“They called the judge, got the warrant and went and got him… I wanted to kill him,” Sandra added. “To do that to a child, especially her.”
The feud heats back up again in 2014.
After Sandra’s filing, Mark was indicted on one count of child molestation and he served 10 years in prison. But when he was released from prison in 2014, the scandal was stirred up again. Pictures were released that seemed to prove that Mama June had gotten back together with Mark after he was released, and Sandra and Anna were not happy.
Anna, who is now 23, felt compelled to come forward publicly about her abuser when she found out that her mom was seeing him again, and bringing him around her younger siblings.
“It’s Mama’s fault. She has brought the past back,” Anna told ET. “She’s smiling and giggling when he’s around. You know, ‘He’s a child molester, Mama. He did this to me. Why would you let him come around the girls knowing what he did?'”
Sandra alleged Mama June wasn’t thinking straight. “Yes. She was in denial and I feel she’s still in denial,” Sandra said at the time. “I said there is no way anybody could have thought up what had happened to [Anna] unless it actually happened to her. Because you couldn’t have thought things like that. No way. Ain’t no way.”

TMZ captured footage of Mama June calling out her mother a year after Chickadee went public with the sexual molestation, and after TLC cancelled the family’s hit reality TV series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo admist the scandal.
“My mother is pushing [Chickadee] for more money,” she revealed to the cameras. “I’ve already gave her money. I can’t help that [Chickadee] went through all of her money in two weeks and gave it to her husband.”

The reality TV star went on to reveal that she had gotten to a peaceful place in her relationship with her daughter Chickadee. It’s her mother, she admitted, that was more of the issue.
“I just think it’s more of my mom pushing her than any of this because I’ve gotten several text messages where my mom is pushing it more than Anna. Me and Anna do have peace, it’s just my mom she doesn’t understand that there is no more money for her, sorry,” she said. “Anna knows that I’ll always be there for her but she needs to stop listening to my mom, my mom need to stop pushing, she’s a money hungry b—h.”
