Mandy Moore Makes It Clear That Wilmer Valderrama Most Definitely Did Not Take Her Virginity
OK, to be honest, mentioning Mandy Moore and Wilmer Valderrama in the same sentence is a bit too 2004 for comfort. However, after the This Is Us star sat down with Howard Stern on June 7, the former couple’s “love story” is worth revisiting — if only to set the record straight once and for all.
In 2006, Wilmer too sat down with Howard Stern for an interview, where he decided to share some very intimate details about his sex life with his then-teenage girlfriend, Mandy Moore. Despite the fact that the two only dated for a year (2001-2002), he claimed that Mandy lost her virginity to him. “The sex with Mandy was good, but it wasn’t like warm apple pie,” he said.
Fast forward to Mandy’s 2006 interview with Elle shortly thereafter, where she clapped back (before clapping back was a thing) at Wilmer’s BS. “[His remark] was utterly tacky, not even true, and it hurt my feelings because I like him,” the songstress explained.
Nearly 10 years later, Mandy is speaking out again. “I dated him when I was 16 and 17,” she began on Howard Stern’s radio show. “I love him and I still love him, and he’s a very good friend and that’s why I was so shocked by it because not only was it a fib, but it was so unlike him, it was so uncharacteristic,” she continued.
As flattering as her anecdote began, she wasn’t about to excuse his s—ty behavior, especially now that she’s grown. “I met him at a photo shoot for like, some teen magazine, literally, when I was 15? 15! I was [pretty innocent!]” she continued. “Again, never French kissed a boy. He was like my first, real, true boyfriend. [But] he did not [take my virginity].”
Despite the fact that Wilmer lied, Mandy maintains that she doesn’t hold any kind of grudge. “I moved past it now. I mean, this was like 2005 or something? We’re not that close, but we’re friendly,” she confessed. “We have some mutual friends so yeah, we’ll see each other around every now and then. He came to my house a couple months ago, I had some friends over. I think he was [genuinely bummed about what happened] too. He’s a good guy, he really is.”
Well, we’re glad she was able to clear the air and let bygones be bygones. That said, gentleman, word of advice: Don’t lie about how far you’ve gone with a woman. As Mandy Moore said, “it’s tacky.”
