Was it meant to be? Years before Bachelor star Arie Luyendyk Jr. asked Lauren Burnham to marry him on live TV, she reportedly met the handsome race car driver at a race in Texas. According to Us Weekly, Lauren, 25, and Arie, 36, got along great during their initial interaction.

“Lauren met Arie a long time ago for like 10 minutes at a race in Dallas and they took a photo together,” an insider told the publication. “She showed him the picture the first night at the mansion and he was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I remember you!'”

The source added, “Lauren and her friends went to the races because her friend was watching another guy. They went into the pits and took some photos with Arie and [joked] around with him. They laughed and talked for a few minutes.”

Now, Lauren and Arie are set to tie the knot. Though the couple seem thrilled to eventually become husband and wife, their happy ending didn’t come until after Arie hurdled over a major bump in his journey for love — breaking up with his original winner, Becca Kufrin.

As viewers witnessed on the Monday, March 5, Season 22 finale of The Bachelor, Arie told Becca, 27, that he couldn’t stop thinking about Lauren since filming wrapped. “I go to bed and I think about Lauren, I wake up and think about Lauren,” Arie said during a painful, unedited moment caught on camera.

Through tears, Becca urged Arie to go home. On the After the Final Rose special, which aired on Tuesday, March 6, Becca was awarded with a substantial consolation prize after suffering the embarrassing split in front of millions of viewers; she was named the star of The Bachelorette’s upcoming Season 14. In the words of Becca, we’re sure she’s more than ready to do the damn thing — and finally find Mr. Right!
