Chris Harrison Said He Would “Cancel Becca’s Season” If Ben Higgins Would Return as ‘The Bachelor’
Wait, what?! Chris Harrison chatted with former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe on her podcast, Off the Vine, and jokingly said that he would cancel Becca Kufrin’s upcoming season if Ben Higgins would return as The Bachelor. Watch the video above and check out all the details!
While Chris doesn’t have the power to cancel Becca’s season, he does really want to work with Ben again — who would be appearing on a Bachelor-related show for the fourth time if he agreed. (Ben previously appeared on Kaitlyn’s season of The Bachelorette, his own season of The Bachelor, and most recently, The Bachelor Winter Games.)
Chris explained, “I’d have him back. I’d have Ben back as The Bachelor. I don’t think Ben will come back. If Ben would come back… I would cancel Becca’s season right now… if Ben said, ‘Hey, dude, let’s do this.’ But it would be really hard for me because he’s a good friend of mine. He’s a very good friend of mine. We’ve been through personal stuff together.”
Although Chris didn’t specify what “personal stuff” the duo have been through together, he has previously spoken about Ben’s split with ex-fianceé Lauren Bushnell on iHeartRadio’s ON With Mario Lopez. “I know that they have struggled with the show and then kind of continuing on and doing their reality show and kind of where the show stopped and then where life began. So I know they were fighting through a bunch of stuff,” Chris shared. “Apparently I did not see that coming. I love them both. They are really two of my favorite people we’ve ever had on the show and Ben is a really good friend.”
Ben and Lauren split in May 2017 and a source exclusively told Life & Style, “They couldn’t agree on many life decisions. Ben was constantly trying to make Lauren love life in Colorado, and Lauren couldn’t stand it. She missed LA and wanted to move back, but knew that wasn’t an option.”
Not only did they disagree, but sources told Life & Style they were faking their relationship for their reality show, “They had been putting on a front for months, pretending to be happy for the show, and Lauren got sick of it. She got sick of sitting at home being an ‘almost housewife’ to Ben.”
While Lauren has officially moved on with her new boyfriend, Devin Antin, Ben is currently single and looking for a relationship. Maybe Chris’ idea of giving Ben another shot at love isn’t half bad!
