We totally forgot Demi Lovato had a gap until we watched her new YouTube documentary Simply Complicated — and, news alert, it was seriously the cutest thing ever. In the behind-the-scenes look at the pop star's life, Demi shares photos from her childhood before she landed on the Disney channel, and she loved showing off her gap-tooth smile.

Today, the "Skyscraper" singer no longer rocks the gap, but she once revealed that Disney encouraged her to fix her teeth. "I signed with Disney Channel when I got Camp Rock, and I had a gap between my two front teeth," she told Allure magazine. "They were like, 'Would you be willing to fix it?' I wish today that I hadn't because my gap was really cute."

In the documentary, Demi, 25, also opened up about her struggles with body image and revealed she is still battling an eating disorder. "I wanted to be as thin as her, I wanted to sing like her, I wanted to be just like her," Demi said of Amy Winehouse. "Food is still the biggest challenge in my life and it's something that I'm constantly thinking about. Body image, what I'm going to eat next, what I wish I could be eating, what I wish I didn't eat. It's just constant."

Her mother, a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, also struggled with bulimia — and she blamed herself for not knowing how to help her daughter. "I never thought to say those things to her because I didn't know myself," she said. "My desire for perfection, I've always been that way. I felt I had to be thin to be beautiful and successful and that this is what you need to look like in order to be perfect. I may have passed that along to my kids, that wanting everything to be perfect."
