Just hours after Jersey Shore star Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was sentenced to eight months in federal prison for tax evasion, he’s breaking his silence. The MTV reality TV star took to Instagram on Friday, Oct. 5, to share a message with his fans, thanking them for their support.

“We are very happy to put this behind us. Thank you so much for all the love [and] support,” the 36-year-old wrote in the caption of a series of photos taken outside the courthouse before and after his sentencing. Milke’s Jersey Shore: Family Vacation co-stars Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Deena Cortese, Angelina Pivarnick, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, DJ Pauly D, and Vinny Guadagnino all attended the hearing in Newark, NJ — and of course, Mike’s ride-or-die fiancée Lauren Pesce was right by his side.

In addition to eight months in prison, Mike was also sentenced to two years supervised release, he must take one drug test 15 days after his prison release and two more drug tests following the first, complete 500 hours community service, and may have to complete drug testing and mental health or addiction treatment. He was also ordered to pay a $10,000 fine and $123,913 in restitution, which has already been paid.

Mike’s brother Marc Sorrentino was sentenced to 24 months. Both Marc and Mike were accused of hiding millions of dollars that Mike made on Jersey Shore between 2010 and 2012, and they were indicted last year for tax evasion and structuring and falsifying records, according to E! News.

Mike will have 30 to 60 days to turn himself in, and he plans to marry his fiancée Lauren before then. “Michael accepts the Court’s judgment,” Mike’s attorney, Henry E. Klingeman, said in a statement to E! News. “He is looking forward to marrying his college sweetheart, Lauren, next month, and moving forward together after he serves his sentence.”
