If you thought Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and his stunning fiancé, Lauren Pesce, couldn’t be any sweeter together, you thought wrong! While the Jersey Shore couple is in the midst of planning their fairytale wedding, we wanted to take a look back to see where their storybook romance began, how they navigate the limelight, and what words of wisdom they have for all the couples out there looking to become #RelationshipGoals.

“Mike and I met in college in a math class. We immediately hit it off and basically started dating then and there,” Lauren explained to Life & Style. “I think it's super important to become friends in the beginning stages of dating. If you take the time to get to know each other you naturally form a level of respect and value for the other person and that becomes the solid foundation to the future relationship,” the 33-year-old continued. “We are lucky to be each other's best friends, as cheesy as that sounds.”

We’re not crying, you’re crying! Beyond being each other's BFFs, Sitch and Lauren have managed to navigate the special circumstances of their relationship with ease. Not every couple comes with an MTV audience and huge social media following, after all. “It's definitely something that takes getting used to,” Lauren said.

“You have to be super secure in your own self and not easily taken out of your peace, otherwise you'll fall for every trap out there,” she added. And secure they are! Mike and Lauren don’t mess around when it comes to thirsty DMs.

“We have an open door policy, which means that there’s full disclosure on all of our social media accounts,” Mike explained. “Anyone that tries to slide in the DMs, which does happen a lot, we show them to each other and delete them together.”

Amazing! Maybe Khloé Kardashian should take some relationship notes from these two. Just sayin’. So, they’ve clearly got trust, but what other elements keep this situation going — figuratively and literally?

“Honesty, loyalty, communication, and sex — and consistency of all of them!” Lauren said. “Patience, compromise, consistency, and always taking the high road,” Mike added.

Well, it’s clear these two are in it for the long haul and not to be selfish, but we certainly hope MTV drops a wedding special! The pair has yet to formally announce a date for their nuptials, but if we had to guess, we’d say summertime at the Jersey Shore.

Be sure to tune in to Jersey Shore Family Vacation Thursday nights at 8 p.m. EST on MTV, and don't forget to check out our recaps of the show!
