When it comes to Met Gala red carpet royalty, the Olsen twins are at the top of the list! That’s why the second Mary-Kate and Ashley stepped out at the 2019 Met Gala on Monday, May 6, at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art we just had to share their iconic looks with y’all.

Both Mary-Kate and Ashley opted for edgy leather ensembles paired with matching leather clutches. Based on photos, Ashley’s outfit included a pop of color with yellow lining, while Mary-Kate’s was all black.

Thankfully, the famous siblings did a much better job in the style department this year. In 2018, Mary-Kate and Ashley showed up in ensembles that could only be described as Coachella meets Game of Thrones. Unsurprisingly, the internet was not kind to them at the time.

“Just before the Olsen twins shed their human skin,” mocked one Twitter user. To be fair, the former Full House stars were showcasing their iconic prune faces. That said, we don’t tolerate any MK & A slander around these parts.

“My fave part of the Met Gala is when the Olsen twins emerge from whatever formaldehyde they spend the year in to float along like 2008 fashion ghouls,” added another. Imaginative? Yes. Incredibly insulting? Also, yes.

Even so, Mary-Kate and Ashley are so beloved by ‘90s babies that there will always be people defending them (and their fashion choices). “I’m never going to say anything bad about the Olsen twins. So, let’s just appreciate the fact that they are here,” one fan wrote during last year’s event.

Agreed. Let’s keep that same energy in 2019. Got it?
