Solid move, Pete Davidson! According to a new report, Ariana Grande’s ex-fiancé made a last minute adjustment to his Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” segment. A source close to the production of the famed NBC series revealed that shortly after Ariana released her new single, “thank u, next,” on Nov. 4, the 24-year-old decided to properly address their split… all jokes aside!

“I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is, it’s nobody’s business and sometimes things just don’t work out — and that’s OK,” Pete began. “She’s a wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world. Now please, go vote on Tuesday.”

For those of you who tune into SNL every week, it was clear by Pete’s tone and expression that his message was serious. TBH, it sounded like he was getting a little choked up.

As to whether Ari’s new bop was the real reason that Pete decided to speak kindly of his former flame remains to be seen. However, it seems more likely that he was afraid of another Twitter attack. After all, Ariana pretty much dragged Pete for his comments on their failed engagement during the promo. He must have suspected that the same would happen if he didn’t tread lightly during the episode.

“For somebody who claims to hate relevancy u sure love clinging to it huh,” the 25-year-old singer wrote at the time. Ouch! On a more positive note, her tweet has since been deleted.

Here’s hoping that Pete has learned his lesson once and for all and that he and Ari can co-exist in Hollywood peacefully. If not, we’re pretty sure that the pop star has plenty more breakup lyrics hiding up her sleeve.
