‘BIP’ Star Wells Adams Reveals His Wild First Date With Sarah Hyland: ‘It Was Trial By Fire’
We thought we couldn’t be any more obsessed with this adorable couple, and then we heard the story of their first official date. Bachelor in Paradise bartender Wells Adams opened up about the first time he met Modern Family star Sarah Hyland in person, and she threw him into the date of his life. He had no idea what he was in for!
While chatting about this year’s Emmy Awards with Your Favorite Thing podcast co-host Brandi Cyrus, Wells was reminded of the first time he met his now-girlfriend of one year. “I’ve never told this story! It is one of my favorite stories,” began Wells. He explained that he was visiting Los Angeles to host the Hero Dogs Awards (lol) and he thought it would be a good opportunity to meet Sarah, who he had talked to and Facetimed, face-to-face.
“She didn’t tell me what it was, she was just like ‘hey I’ve got an industry party I’ve got to go to,’ so I was like ‘that’s cool, I’m going to this hero dog awards, but when I’m done lets go get a drink.’ That was the thought.”
Unfortunately, when he finished his gig in Beverly Hills, there wasn’t anywhere open to meet. “She was like ‘I’m looking on my phone right now, there’s nothing really open in Beverly Hills, just come to this party I’m at, I’ve got a plus one.’ So I was like, ‘okay, whatever.'”
“So yeah, our first date was at the night before the Emmys party and that party… 99.9% of the population doesn’t know that this party exists because there’s no press allowed, there’s no cameras allowed, it’s the night before, and it’s everybody. It’s everyone that’s on a TV show right now… except for reality TV shows.”
Wells revealed that the first person he met was Joel McHale who started “making fun of me immediately.” “You have to remember, this is the first time I ever met Sarah,” he continued. “So then we walk in and we run into Johnny Galecki from Big Bang Theory, she’s like ‘Oh my god love how are you doing?’ He was like ‘my huse just burned down’ and I started laughing. He was like ‘why are you laughing?’ And I was like, ‘oh you’re being serious.'”
Despite the awkward first meeting, Sarah and Wells have been dating ever since. He even move to LA to be with her! “Total trial by fire. I guess I passed that test.,” he joked. Clearly he did. Recently she posted a photo with her boo with the caption, “Here’s to the good men. The men that support us. The men that believe us. The ones who know right from wrong. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️.”
