People are expected to be vulnerable on Bachelor in Paradise. The whole point is to find love, so contestants are often forced to be very open about their love lives and feelings. Yet, rarely if ever have we seen someone speak so candidly about their mental health than Kevin Wendt did on Aug. 27, and fans were truly touched.

Kevin is a fireman in Canada, and he admitted that some of the tragedies he’s seen weigh heavily on them. For that reason, he sees a therapist twice weekly. Soon after, he took to Twitter to say, “We all have issues we battle with daily.” Fans immediately responded to thank him for his honesty and for helping fight the stigma against mental health issues.

“I applaud you for openly sharing and communicating. You not holding back in relationships is something we all could learn from. And how honest you were about your therapy and everything. It was amazing,” said one fan. Another agreed, writing, “I love you’re talking about this. A lot of folks in emergency services are not open to seeking help and feel like they ‘should’ be able to deal with all the events they see. There is no way a human can. Therapy helps, and I’m glad you have a good provider.”

Others were so moved that they are now desperate to see more of Kevin, hoping that if things don’t work out with Astrid Loch, who he’s dating on the show, he will become the next Bachelor. “Kevin for bachelor. Am I right or am I right? (I know I’m right ok don’t tell me I’m wrong ) ?#BachelorInParadise,” said one fan. Another couldn’t help but agree, tweeting, “If I didn’t love @kevin_c_wendt and @astrid_loch together I’d be sooo #KevinforBachelor.”

Kevin’s Bachelorette story also makes him a good choice for the role. He won his season of Bachelorette Canada, but sadly the relationship only lasted a few months before they parted ways. Then he won Bachelor Winter Games with Ashley Iaconetti, but she dumped him for her longtime love Jared Haibon (who she is now https://www.lifeandstylemag.com/posts/ashley-iaconetti-jared-haibon-engagement-kevin-wendt-163079 to). It’s about darn time Kevin gets what he deserves!
