Honesty hour. Taylor Nolan took to Instagram on August 5 to reflect on her time during season 4 of Bachelor in Paradise, where she got engaged to Derek Peth. Although the couple split less than a year later, fans were wondering how she was handling watching her ex-fiancé appear on the beach in Mexico during season 6.

“[Two years] ago I had no idea what I was getting myself into,” Taylor admitted in a lengthy Instagram post during the show’s premiere. “[Bachelor in Paradise] is a really special place and I’m thankful for the memories and relationships I made while I was there.⁣”

The brunette beauty confessed that going on the famed reality show really took her out of her comfort zone. “It’s never easy putting yourself out there. Dating is weird and even more so trying to do it after doing it on reality TV,” she explained. “Whether love is found on Paradise or not, it’s an opportunity to meet new people and reflect on yourself. I learned SO MUCH from my experience there and I still cherish those lessons today.”

She and Derek were the only couple to leave season 4 engaged and seemed like a great pair. At the end of the day, distance and not being on the same page ended up being their demise. “I think that she didn’t want to leave Seattle and she wanted to like travel here and travel there and take advantage of some of this [Bachelor Nation] stuff … And I got my job [in New York City], I have my normal week,” Derek said during an interview on The Morning Toast in July 2018.

I woke up like this but ⁣ ⁣ I went to sleep completely exhausted. We both did. Yesterday we had a two hour therapy session (because relationships are not supposed to be easy) and afterwards kind of took the day off to explore Bainbridge island, and enjoy each other and life around us. ⁣ ⁣ Supporting each other while we both go through some life transitions has proven a bit difficult. We receive and give support in very different ways, and the energy we have to do either of those is low. ⁣ ⁣ I’m really happy we had our session yesterday and I wish we could have more (long distance can get in the way of that). Putting in the effort to learn how to communicate better, how to support each other, and how to show up for each other is so so so important. You have to be willing to put in the work. No matter how hard life gets. ⁣ This morning I’m proud of us for putting in the work. I’m letting him get some extra sleep (he really needs it) and answering emails on my phone while he snores and Lilly purrs on me. I’m thankful that as sad, tired, and frustrated we may be at times with our lives that we are still putting in the work where we can. ⁣ ⁣ It’s not nice, clean, and pretty. It’s not a fairytale ending or a movie. It’s not supposed to be. It’s messy and complicated and emotional…it’s real life! That’s where the work is, that’s where the magic is, that’s where the love shows. ⁣ ⁣ I guess I’m just trying to say, I love this moment. I love that I woke up like this today, and who knows how I’ll wake up tomorrow, but I’m happy I’m right here. Squished, overheating, and soaking up the love between my baby girl and my man 💛💛💛 *****SEE HIGHLIGHT ON “Couples Therapy”*******

Taylor is now in a new relationship that she loves showing off on social media but that doesn’t mean it will be easy to see her ex looking for love. “This season will definitely provide its own triggers and opportunities to reflect,” she continued her post. “I wish everyone on this season the best of luck in their journey to find love.”

We’re glad Taylor found happiness!
