When it comes to the coaches on The Voice, Gwen Stefani most definitely has the best style! Ahem, no offense, John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton. With that, the “Hollaback Girl” singer, 50, met up with her talented team of singers to get real about the role fashion plays on stage.

“There’s that body language, there’s the singing, there’s the song … and then there’s the style,” Gwen explained in a behind-the-scenes clip with E! News. “[Because] the style is like, this is who I am, this is who I present myself as, this is how I’m unique. I don’t want to be like everybody else, you know? It’s like your identity. It’s super important to share that.”

If you’re not caught up with the beloved singing competition, Gwen’s team is stacked with amazing performers Calvin Lockett, Royce Lovett, Elise Azkoul, Kiara Brown, Kyndal Inskeep, Jake HaldenVang, Rose Short, Brennen Henson and Caroline Reilly

Speaking specifically with Royce and Kiara, Gwen explained the stages of her own fashion evolution on the show. “Every single season has been a different emotional place I’ve been in in my life,” she said. “This time, I wanted to be me, like No Doubt, like on stage. I didn’t want to wear heels. It gives me an attitude that’s so different … it dresses the song up in the right way.”

No pressure or anything, but Gwen also assured the contestants that what they wear will make a “huge difference” on their performance. After hanging with Royce and Kiara, Gwen met up with Brennen and Calvin where she served up some more sage style truths. “Personal style is like, a huge part of the overall picture,” she explained. “Even if you’re a ‘jeans and T-shirt’ guy … that’s what your identity is.”

Man, we can’t wait to see what Gwen’s team members do with all of this amazing fashion wisdom. P.S. Here’s hoping the other contestants follow her advice, too!
