‘The Bachelorette’ Contestant Mike Renner’s Employer Is Ready to Grade His Performance on the ABC Dating Show!
Before he signed up for The Bachelorette Season 14 to vie for the affection of Becca Kufrin, Mike Renner made a name for himself as a sports analyst. So it's only fitting his employer would analyze him as he competes on the ABC dating show! You see, Mike works as a senior analyst for Pro Football Focus, who outed him as a contestant via Twitter, writing, "Yes, we will be grinding Mike's performance weekly." Moments later, PFF tweeted an image with Mike's stats. (Smile Grade: 94.5, Man Bun Grade: 99.9, Laughs Per Joke Told: Only 0.85.)
Mike joked about his involvement, too. "When did they start letting nerds on #TheBachelorette?" he tweeted. He also quoted what Bachelorette host Chris Harrison said about Mike's long locks: "Those aren't extensions. That's legit. That's all Mike. He looks kind of like — you watch any '80s surf movies? That's Mike. Not Spicoli-esque, but pretty close."
And then The News-Gazette of Champaign, IL, blew up Mike's spot and posted a headshot from his days as a high school basketball star… with a buzzcut! "In high school, he was quiet, but his current job has given him confidence on camera," coach Joel Beesley told the newspaper of Mike's chances on the show. "Mikey is a closer. You know he is smarter than all of them."
So what else do we know about this 27-year-old? He graduated from high school in 2008 and graduated from Notre Dame in 2012, majoring in accounting and computer applications. Now he lives in Cincinnati, works for Pro Football Focus, and reps the website with appearances on Sports Illustrated TV. His ABC bio, meanwhile, reveals he loves festivals, horse races, state fairs, and his bulldog. (That dog's name is Riggins — in what must be a Friday Night Lights reference.)
By the way, Mike isn't the only sports dude on this Bachelorette season. He'll be joined by former Harlem Globetrotter Chris Staples, free agent NFL tight end Clay Harbor, and former NFL tight end Colton Underwood. We'll see how these guys impress Becca once The Bachelorette Season 14 premieres on Monday, May 28, at 8 p.m. ET.
