Get ready, fam, because Selena Gomez is officially back in the studio working on new music for her new album, which fans have dubbed SG2. The singer shared a few images on her Instagram Story on August 29 that showed her songwriting and recording. People are stoked considering her last studio album, Revival, was released in October 2015.

“Just so you know, I see your comments and I’m working on it,” the 27-year-old captioned one of the black-and-white snapshots from inside the recording studio. She also posted a boomerang video of herself looking happy and flashing a peace sign while wearing an oversized button-down shirt.

Although the brunette beauty previously told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that her next album was completed, she also posted a separate image of herself doing what looked to be a bit of songwriting.

“I’m actually done,” she admitted on the talk show during the June 11 episode. “I have to do, like, a few finishing things with it, but I’m just relieved. It took me four years now to even feel at a good place with this album and it’s just because I had such huge moments that happened in my life personally.” That is a definite understatement. Selena underwent a kidney transplant in the summer of 2017. Then, in October 208, she spent a month in a rehab facility in NYC after being hospitalized twice for complications due to the autoimmune disease lupus and the transplant.

The pop star explained to Jimmy that she wanted to accurately represent these ups and downs she went through. “How was I going to capture that? How was I going to feel good about what I was saying? So, I just kept going and I’m relieved now.”

Fans are definitely excited about what’s to come. “We stand with you, Selena. We support you all the time and we are confident that the album will be very successful … We want Queen Selena to come back strongly,” one person tweeted. “Girl, I’ve been waiting since 2016 … I guess I’ll be quiet and let you work your full wizard wand magic on that album Ms. Russo!” someone else said, referencing her role on Wizards of Waverly Place. Another user echoed, “I never doubted you, my queen, I know you’re working and SG2 will be your best album.”

As far as what to expect from her new work, she promised a “strong sense of pop” but also a few surprises. “I definitely explored more with electric guitar. A lot of soulful tracks underneath things, acoustic guitar. It all kind of hits different places that I feel is my lane for music. I just live in that world,” Selena divulged to the talk show host while adding, “Something that connects with people on an emotional level is my favorite.”

Music from the artist has been trickling out slowly. In 2017, she released a slew of singles including “Bad Liar,” “Fetish” and “Wolves.” The following year, she released “Back to You” for the Netflix show 13 Reasons Why, which the former Disney kid is a producer. Most recently, she dropped “I Can’t Get Enough” with Benny Blanco, J. Balvin and Tainy.

We’ll just sit here patiently waiting …
