Ever since MTV brought back one of its most popular reality shows without one of the show's biggest stars, fans have been wondering: Where is Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola from Jersey Shore, and why isn't she on Jersey Shore Family Vacation? And now that the revival has been renewed, we all have another question:
Will Sammi be on Jersey Shore Family Vacation Season 2?
Here's what we know… Sammi hasn't commented either way, but the rest of the cast has hope she'll resurface for Family Vacation's second season. "I can almost bet on that," Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio told People. "For someone to say no to that this time and then all the media and everybody, all those comments… She must see them. She must want to do it. I gotta say, she must have to want to do the second one."
Jenni "JWoww" Farley agreed. "For the simple fact that she will always be a part of us and she'll always be mentioned or brought up, at least capitalize on it," she advised her former co-star. "Speak your own truth. Come in, fight us on whatever, or love us, or, like, be around us. It's kinda s–t she's not taking the opportunity."
It might be more likely if Ronnie gets cut from the show.
Even though Sammi skipped out on the first season, she was dragged into the frey when Ronnie admitted that he was still in love with her. It was obvious that she was at least watching the show, because she responded with a snarky post with her new man. However, Ron has become involved in a new controversy that could, potentially, get him cut from the show. After cheating on his pregnant gf on Season 1, Jen Harley posted a shocking video of a brutal fight with Ron on Instagram stories. She later called him "abusive." His TV fam is sticking by him, but it might be too much for producers to overlook, and if it's Ron or Sammi, they might be willing to cut him to bring her back. At least, we can dream.
Why didn't Sammi do Season 1?
So why did she opt out of Family Vacation to begin with? She explained her choice in a March 30 Twitter post: "I have chosen not to join the show [for Season 1] because I am at a completely different place in my life right now, focusing on my businesses and relationship. I am not the same person as I was when I was 22. At 31, I am currently extremely happy in every aspect of my life and want to avoid potentially toxic situations."
Now let's focus on those "toxic situations," shall we? Apparently, the main reason Sammi chose to sit this Family Vacation out was that she didn't want to film with her ex-boyfriend, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, since she's dating Christian Biscardi now.
Sammi and Ronnie in happier times.
"She's happy in her current relationship and didn't want to be disrespectful of that," a source told E! News. And Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi corroborated that story on her podcast It's Happening With Snooki & Joey, saying, "Everyone's asking why Sammi's not doing it. You have to ask her that — I'm not gonna speak for her. But Sammi is just in such a happy place that I feel like she doesn't want to jump back into that drama if it does happen. And being that there was a lot of Ron and Sam drama when we did film, it was just really hard on both of them. So I just think she doesn't want that anymore."
Even so, Sammi, your co-stars want you back. Your fans want you back. It's time to give MTV a call!
