It never works out like you hope. At least, that’s what Real Housewives of New York alum Jill Zarin told Life & Style exclusively at WEtv’s Love After Lockup screening presented by OK! Magazine — and she was referring to her short meet-up with former friend Bethenny Frankel at late husband Bobby Zarin‘s funeral.

“It was nice,” the 55-year-old said of being able to connect with her after the service, a moment documented on season 11 of the Bravo TV series. “I’m sorry we didn’t get to talk more afterwards. But that’s life.”

As far as rekindling a friendship with her 48-year-old former costar, the entrepreneurial redhead explained that she’s had too much going on this summer to really get in deep with Bethenny and make moves in their friendship.

“You know what, I’m so busy doing my own thing. You know, we’ve communicated a few times, but nothing more than that,” she revealed. “And I only wish her the best, I really do. It’s been a rough year for her too, you know, after the death of Dennis.”

The Skinnygirl founder dealt with the passing of her on-again, off-again ex back in August 2018, while Jill’s late husband passed away back in January 2018. Clearly, the huge losses for both women was a good commonality for them to get back on better terms.

Since Jill’s been so busy with her new brand of rugs, she hasn’t decided whether or not she really wants to share the spotlight with Bethenny again — in a full-time role on the show that made them both household names.

“I think that people will be surprised, nobody will be surprised at what I’m doing, but that the show did such amazing things for me. You know, I’d like to go back in some ways but in some ways you know, it’s a scary proposition because [my boyfriend] Gary [Brody] is dangerous and you know he’s gonna get me in trouble.”
