Hmmm, was it all just for show? According to reports, Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson never even started planning their wedding over the course of their five-month engagement.

In fact, a source suggested that the entire summer passed without the pair bothering to look for a venue, lock down a wedding date, or pick out their respective outfits. So, did the couple actually have any intention of getting hitched or were they doomed from the start?

Well, the source added that Ariana spoke to her mom briefly about their nuptials… but that was it! Pretty strange, huh? That said, the “God is a Woman” singer did provide fans with one clue that she was excited to walk down the aisle — she was always showing off her $100,000 engagement ring.

Sadly, a ring is hardly what it takes to make a wedding — much less a marriage — and as we now know, Pete and Ariana just couldn’t go the distance. Since their sudden split, Ariana has yet to publically comment on her breakup. However, the SNL star recently broke his silence during a comedy skit on Oct. 21.

“Um, I’ve been covering a bunch of tattoos, that’s fun,” the 24-year-old quipped in reference to his multiple Ariana-themed tattoos. “I’m f–king 0 for 2 in the tattoo [department]. Yeah, I’m afraid to get my mom tattooed on me, that’s how bad it is,” he continued.

“And it was like in a magazine like, ‘Was Pete Davidson stupid?’ And 93 percent of it said yes. So, my boy, he was like, ‘Don’t listen to that s–t man. They’re literally f–king haters.'” Pete then joked about how the internet trolls were right. Sorry, Pete! Better luck next time.

Speaking of covering tattoos, though, Ariana also recently made her first post-split appearance at a taping of NBC’s A Very Wicked Halloween, and she decided to cover up the ink of Pete’s name on her finger.

You know what they say: Once you cover up a tattoo of your ex, there’s no going back. OK, they don’t say that, but it’s safe to say Ari and Pete are done for good.
