Though American audiences didn’t meet Benoît Beauséjour-Savard until his stay on The Bachelor Winter Games, they fell in love pretty quickly. On the show, he started a relationship with Clare Crawley — only to have it broken off when she decided to pursue a relationship with Juan Pablo 2.0 (aka Christian Rauch) instead. But while he didn’t have Clare, Benoît did have plenty of Bachelor Nation fans rooting for him — and campaigning to bring the Canadian across the border to hand out roses.

“Petition to make Benoît our next Bachelor,” one fan tweeted. “I don’t even care that he’s not from America… if Kaitlyn [Bristowe] could be our Bachelorette we can have Benoît.” Another added, “Arie is canceled. Benoît for Bachelor.”

Though that hope was briefly dashed when Benoît and Clare got engaged at the Winter Games “World Tells All” special, it was reignited after their breakup. And though he hasn’t been given the title of The Bachelor (or at least not yet), he does have roses to give out this time around. The Canadian contestant is back, this time in Bachelor in Paradise, and if all goes well he should be getting (and giving!) plenty of roses.

Benoît may be ready to find love again in Bachelor Nation.

While he’s looking for love again, the real question is if Benoît is ready to find love again. After all, it was only a few months ago that he was engaged after getting down on one knee in front of a live studio audience. “The first day I met you I didn’t believe in love at first sight,” he told Clare during the Winter Games after show in February. “You’re the strongest woman I’ve ever met in my entire life. I know you’ve been through a lot and there’s going to be issues everywhere… I want to be beside you because we’ll be a lot stronger together. You never give up on love and this is the best thing about you and I will never give up on you.” He even had a few words for her in French, which translated to, “I love you and I want to spend the rest of my days with you.”

It’s no surprise fans were convinced he’s a catch. The speech was super romantic. But still, things didn’t quite work out, and just two months after they got engaged, they announced their breakup on social media. “We understand a lot of you have been asking about our relationship since the show, and we wanted to thank you all for the love and respect as we navigated it in real life off camera,” they wrote in a shared statement.

“We do understand however, having a public engagement on TV kind of changes that. It’s with a heavy heart that we have mutually decided to end our relationship. We think the world of eachother, and we were both hoping we could make this work. I’m sorry that this may not be what you want to hear, but it’s our truth. Just know there are no negative feelings here, we are simply two people who believed in love, and were open enough to give it a chance.”

Before that, Benoît also appeared on The Bachelorette Canada

On that show, he and other men competed for love with the Bachelorette, a gorgeous hairstylist named Jasmine Lorimer. However, he didn’t quite make it to the proposal stages this time around. He was sent home two episodes before the finale and didn’t even have the chance to bring Jasmine home to meet his family. It turns out that may have been a blessing in disguise, though, considering how strongly Benoît felt for the Bachelorette and how worried he was about introducing her to his relatives only to have her not choose him down the road.

But even as he was getting dumped, Benoît revealed his super sweet personality. “You’re in good hands right now,” he told Jasmine. “Those three guys are beauties and they’re gonna take care of you. Thank you for this experience, journey. I wasn’t expecting to meet you. You’re such a nice person, a wonderful human being you are.” The man that won Jasmine’s heart was ultimately Kevin Wendt, though they also later broke up. Luckily, Benoît and Kevin were reunited on Winter Games, and now they’re about to see each other again in Paradise

Benoît’s excited to reunite with even more of his Winter Games friends in Paradise.

Though some of his past costars have already had to leave the beach-side resort, a few more are waiting for him. Not only will Kevin be there, so will Eric Bigger and Yuki Kimura. Later this season, Ashley Iaconnetti is also scheduled to make her triumphant Paradise return when she finally gets engaged to her long-time love (and long-time we’re-just-friends-not-dating) Jared Haibon. Let’s be honest, though. Yuki’s really the most important one.

He’s looking to get serious again sometime soon.

“As a maître d’ in trendy Old Montréal, Benoît is constantly surrounded by a bevy of beauties… and yet he is still searching for the love of his life,” his initial bio read. “Benoît dreams of finding a loving wife and starting a family of his own, but he is holding out for the right girl — someone who knows what she wants, has a great sense of humor and is as outgoing and generous as he is.”

Though neither Jasmine nor Clare were that “one,” whoever she is just may be there in Paradise. We’ll have to wait and see who he makes a connection with, though we already know at least Jenna Cooper is interested.
