It looks like resident colognoisseur Jean Blanc is the first contestant to drop the L-bomb on Becca Kufrin‘s season of The Bachelorette. On tonight’s episode of the reality dating competition, the 31-year-old fragrance lover tells Becca he is ~falling for her~ but he doesn’t get the response he was hoping for.

Jean interrupts Becca while she’s chatting with Lincoln — who officially might be the worst Bachelorette contestant of all time — to make a “bold move” and profess his strong feelings to the 28-year-old beauty. “I just wanted to reaffirm where I see you and how I am feeling about you,” he reveals after just four weeks on the show. “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and I really haven’t felt like this in a long, long time. I’m truly falling for you, and I am falling in love with you and I am just putting it out there.”

However, Becca’s hesitation to respond speaks volumes — and smells a little fishy (aka she is not “falling” for Jean Blanc at all). Luckily for Jean Blanc, who has spoken openly about his obsession with scents, he is launching his own perfume inspired by the series’ signature flower to help with the stink of rejection. “Donating part of the proceeds generated from the sale of my new fragrance #toujoursrose to the [#MeToo movement] and another charity to be named at a later time,” he captioned a photo of his new perfume, which in English translates to Forever Rose. “Thankful I had a part in creating the longest lasting rose-scented fragrance ever created using microencapsulation.” Don’t worry, we don’t know what microencapsulation is either.

So, is Jean Blanc really just a colognoisseur?

While that might his job title on The Bachelorette, the Haitian native lists his occupations as horologist and engineer on his Instagram page. According to his ABC bio, he is also currently getting his master’s degree in business administration from Duke University — and works in finance in Pensacola, where is recently relocated. In a nutshell, Jean Blanc is a man of many talents.
