Kourtney Kardashian on Quitting 'KUWTK' — Read All Her Quotes

It’s been a long reality TV road for Kourtney Kardashian. The eldest Kar-Jenner sister has been starring in her family’s hit series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, for 13 years — and she’s finally over it. After a recent interview with Vogue Arabia in which she called the filming environment “toxic,” we rounded up all of Kourt’s quotes about quitting the show that made her a household name so we can properly say goodbye. Cue the tears.

The Poosh founder first revealed she was planning to take a step back from the reality series in November 2019. “I just decided to spend more time as a mom and put more of my energy there, but I am not saying goodbye,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “But I think you will have to see more of it on the new season — season 18.”

The season is currently on a summer hiatus after the first six episodes aired amid the coronavirus pandemic quarantine in the spring. The show will return in September … and it looks like we’ll see a lot less of Kourtney when it does.

At the time, her siblings Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian were quick to share their opinions on the lifestyle blogger’s decision. “Yeah, I mean, we definitely love Kourtney and will miss Kourtney and whatever she decides to do,” KoKo explained. “But people come, people go all the time in this family. We feel like it’s a revolving door, so Kourtney might leave this week, she’ll be back. They all come back.”

However, Kourt’s younger sister — and one of her closest confidants — Kendall Jenner also addressed the situation in January and noted the brunette beauty isn’t “necessarily” leaving the show entirely.

“I think Kourtney kind of has boundaries, which is totally understandable,” she explained during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “I’ve always kind of not let my personal life entirely on the show so it’s just kind of always been a thing for me. But for Kourtney, she did at one point let her personal life be on the show so now it’s a bit more of a shift, I guess, for everyone to understand. But no, I don’t think she’s fully confirmed to not be on the show. Let’s just say it gets a little crazier before it gets any better.”

While appearing on The Real, Kourtney revealed she gets a bit annoyed during the filming process for the series. “So, I mean, every day is different,” she expressed, admitting she previously considered leaving the show at one point. “At the current moment, I am happy and very into my blessings and feeling really good. I definitely have my moments where … life is short.”

The Real star and family friend Adrienne Bailon noted the starlet “always” tells it like it is — which makes her an asset to the series.

“Well, I have had my moments,” Kourtney responded. “I do think Khloé always tries to instill I think in all of us — let’s wake up and be so grateful. Grateful that I am filming in my house or going to Khloé’s for the day or filming with my sisters or filming with my mom, with my kids. So, I do feel taking — we all have our moments, like, ‘We hate this.’”

Before her explosive on-camera fight with Kim during the first half of season 18, Kourtney said she “honestly” didn’t want to film “ever again.”

“I’m also not only shooting for our show today, but I’m also shooting Architectural Digest for my home. So, I’m just being torn in a lot of different directions,” Kourt added. “And, after being off for a month, it just gives me anxiety knowing that I’m going to be having no real privacy. There’s probably going to be 40 people in my house today.”

In a cover story interview with Vogue Arabia, Kourtney revealed what led to her choice to stop appearing regularly on the series.

“I have been filming the show non-stop for 14 years,” she explained. “I was feeling unfulfilled and it became a toxic environment for me to continue to have it occupy as much of my life as it was. Privacy is something I have come to value and finding that balance of private moments with being on a reality show is hard. People have this misconception that I don’t want to work, which isn’t true. I am following my happiness and putting my energy into that which makes me happy.”
