Eva Mendes gets a free pass for seeming like a frazzled new mom — she just gave birth to her first child, Esmeralda, four months ago with boyfriend Ryan Gosling, 34.
So when the 40-year-old actress took the stage at Hollywood's Stand Up to Cancer event, fumbled her lines and appeared to get emotional, she was quick to defend herself.

"I just had a baby! I hadn't slept. I'm sorry," she said. "Thank you so much for inviting me to join you tonight..."
Eva's brother, Carlos, has been struggling with cancer, and the actress appeared to get choked up as she pointed him out in the audience, reassuring him that she loves him.
A source recently told 'In Touch' that Eva has been struggling with postpartum depression, and it's been drastically affecting her relationship with Ryan.
“She’s been having severe mood swings, making it unbearable for anyone to be around her. One minute she’s sending Ryan videos of their daughter, and then the next she won’t accept his calls," the source said.
