Perhaps dating Katy Perry has made John Mayer turn over a new leaf!

The crooner is coming to terms with how the public views him, admitting some of the things he's said about his famous ex-girlfriends in the past was wrong.

"I was just a jerk," the 35-year-old musician tells Anthony Mason during an interview airing this weekend on CBS Sunday Morning.
The notorious womanizer has dated the likes of Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Taylor Swift. And he never refrained from talking about his personal relationships with them in the past.

"It's very liberating when you finally realize it's impossible to make everyone like you," he goes on to say. "I wanted everybody to like me. I thought I was one shuck and jive away in every direction."

John has been dating Katy since October 2012. And even her ex-hubby, Russell Brand, recently talked about their new relationship.

"You have to let go of the instinct to protect someone once you divorce them," the British comedian said.

So let's take a look why John's confirming what a lot of people have been calling him for years. See what he's shared about his famous exes below:

Jessica Simpson (2006-2007)
"And drugs aren't good for you if you do lots of them. Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me. Sexually it was crazy. That's all I'll say. It was like napalm, sexual napalm."

Jennifer Aniston (2008-2009)
"There was a rumor that I'd been dumped because I was tweeting too much. That wasn't it, but that was a big difference. The brunt of her success came before TMZ and Twitter. I think she's still hoping it goes back to 1998. She saw my involvement in technology as courting distraction. And I always said, 'These are th new rules.'"

Though, he did have some nice things to say about her, "That woman would never use heartbreak warfare. That woman was the most communicative, sweetest, kindest person."

Taylor Swift (2010)
Who can forget her son "Dear John," which fans speculated was about her ill-fated 2009 romance with a much older John. In the June 2012 issue of Rolling Stone, he went on the defense. "It made me feel terrible because I didn't deserve it. ["Dear John" is] cheap songwriting. It's abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait til he gets a load of this!'"

Taylor's response? After calling him "presumptuous" she went on to say, "I never disclose who my songs are about."

Jennifer Love Hewitt (2002)
He wrote his hit "Your Body Is a Wonderland" about her, but that didn't stop him from discussing their sex life onstage at The Laugh Factory in LA in 2006. After saying he never got to have sex with Jennifer because of a bout of food poisoning, brought on by some bad fish, John defended his comments by saying, "It really was me making fun of myself." He also said he felt remorseful after his routine and immediately sent her an apology. He adds, "I'm a wimp."

But is Katy in the clear? "I hate being the heartbreaker. Hate it," John's said in the past. "If I date somebody and it doesn't work out, it's another nightmare for me."

Let's just hope he has the "Firework" singer's best interest at heart!
