Brad Pitt is proud of fiancée Angelina Jolie and her decision to have a double mastectomy.In a new interview with London’s Evening Standard, the Fight Club star, 49, praises his leading lady, 37.“Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie’s choice, as well as so many others like her, absolutely heroic. I thank our medical team for their care and focus.”He added, “All I want is for her to have a long and healthy life, with myself and our children. This is a happy day for our family.”

She credited her future husband, with whom she has Maddox, 11, Pax, 9, Zahara, 8, Shiloh, 6, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 4, for sticking by her side.In the NYT article, Angie wrote: “Brad was at the Pink Lotus Breast Center [in California], where I was treated, for every minute of the surgeries. We managed to find moments to laugh together. We knew this was the right thing to do for our family and that it would bring us closer. And it has."

The process began on Feb. 2 and took three months of medical procedures to complete — including a “nipple delay,” which increases the chance of saving the nipple, and reconstructive surgery after removing both of her breasts."I can tell my children that they don’t need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer,” she said, adding, "They know that I love them and will do anything to be with them as long as I can. On a personal note, I do not feel any less of a woman. I feel empowered that I made a strong choice that in no way diminishes my femininity."
