Maybe Taylor Swift's "Dear John" isn't about John Mayer after all!
Though she's famous for writing about songs about her exes, Taylor, 22, is firing back at her ex John, 34, with whom she was romantically linked for several months from late 2009 until early 2010, for assuming the song off her 2010 album, Speak Now, is about him.
"How presumptuous! I never disclose who my songs are about," she told the November issue of Glamour.
In June, John, who recorded his hit "Half of My Heart" with the songstress in 2009, told Rolling Stone that he was left "humiliated" after her song’s release.
"It made me feel terrible," he said. "Because I didn't deserve it. I'm pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do."
But Taylor, whose current hit, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," is also about a failed relationship, says she doesn't have to explain her songwriting inspirations, telling the November issue of Marie Claire UK:
"Well, it's not like it's in fine print," she said. "But music is absolutely everything that I am and everything that I stand for. It's not my fault if someone gets into a relationship with me and then cheats and I write a song about it."
