Dress like a star

Angie946.jpg

Longtime celebrity stylist Jennifer Rade is the secret weapon behind Angelina Jolie's red-carpet magic. The self-proclaimed Wicked Witch of Wardrobe has dressed Jolie for years, helping catapult the actress to style-icon status. Rade shares her tried-and-true tips for looking chic on any budget.

"Fall is a good time to look over your wardrobe and get rid of pieces you're not going to wear." A great rule of thumb: If you haven't worn something in a year, chances are you never will!

"Have a tailor alter your clothes to fit," she says. "Tailoring can make inexpensive items look expensive."

Rade's latest must-have? "I love J Brand jeans," she says. And so do A-listers like Gwen Stefani and Halle Berry. The hot skinny styles look like jeans and feel like leggings: "They're the most comfortable things on the planet," says the stylist.

Who wears it best?

The French label Vionnet is making a comeback, and this exquisitely draped dress proves why! We love that An Education's Carey Mulligan went for a bold color and brooch, but the hemline's awkward. The teal hue and floor-length hem of Hilary Swank's version lets the masterful design speak for itself.

Celebs go wild with animal-print bags

Trendspotting946.jpg

No matter which member of the animal kingdom you choose (cheetah, leopard or tiger, oh my!), animal-print handbags add a hint of danger to your look. And stars know it: They're using patterned clutches and bags to vamp up LBDs and everyday basics. Gossip Girl star Jessica Szohr makes her leopard bag daytime-appropriate by pairing it with jeans and a solid jacket. And a leopard print clutch is an eye-catching addition to Katharine McPhee's chic all-black look. But don't forget to use your instincts - stick to one animal-print piece at a time.

Stars rock fall's hottest jackets

Blake945.jpg

Think baggier is better when it comes to curvy shapes? No way, says stylist Jamee Gidwitz: "Jackets should be nipped in at the waist or fitted at the shoulders to create new narrow focal points." Removable belts are great too because they can be adjusted to fit your frame. We love how the belt on Blake Lively's jacket shows off the smallest part of her body: her waist!

Abstract animal prints are so hot right now, and the leopard-print style from the Stephen Sprouse for Louis Vuitton collection is just exquisite. Hanging loosely, Liv's scarf defines casual chic - especially against a black background. Sienna's is eclipsed by her bag and booties. Who do you think wears it best?

The studs on Stephanie Pratt's $1,950 Miu Miu bag pick up the metallic tones of the star's $30 statement necklace and $160 sequined jacket, both from Topshop, as well as Stephanie's oxidized silver ring, making the style cohesive. Charley 5.0 skinny jeans ($158) ground the outfit.

Celebs look cute in cropped jackets

Trendspotting944.jpg

Be it day or night, a cropped leather coat is a no-fail way to top off a look. Olivia Wilde and Alexa Chung certainly got the memo, showing that cool leather jackets aren't just for casual ensembles - they're also perfect for adding edge to soft, feminine dresses and dressing down more formal frocks. And since they hit at or above the waist (and show it off!), they can flatter every figure.

We're crazy about the ruching on this Voom by Joy Han dress, and the gathered pleats at the bust amp up the celebs' curves even more! But while Fame star Kristy Flores is smart to keep her accessories muted, her pale skin doesn't pop in the same way as Giuliana Rancic's tan complexion does.
