Dad’s approval! Todd Chrisley is “grateful” son Chase found his girlfriend, Emmy Medders, he exclusively tells Life & Style. “Chase has had s—t for luck when it comes to picking people to date, and I’ve made no bones about the people he dates,” the Chrisley Knows Best star says.

“No one that Chase has ever dated has ever been allowed to come to our home, to sit at his mother’s table or to be around us because I felt like he was worth more than what he was settling for. We were not going to be subjected to his bad choices,” continues the executive producer of Netflix’s DeMarcus Family Rules with Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus

Todd, 51, notes Chase, 24, is a “sweet boy” with “the kindest heart in the world,” and he hoped the Growing Up Chrisley star would bring home someone who is “the same caliber” as his mom, Julie Chrisley

“God answered that prayer with Emmy,” gushes the reality dad. “She is a good, decent, honorable, honest, all-American sweetheart and her family is just literally salt of the Earth. You do not get any better than her family.”

The pair became Instagram official in early June, and besides being adorable, Todd says Emmy has “made [Chase] a better person” during their time together. “That’s who you want to see your children with,” adds the real estate mogul. “You want your children to be with someone that’s going to make them better, and she makes him want to better every day of his life.”

As for Todd’s daughter Savannah, she and boyfriend Nic Kerdiles are in a good place after pressing “the pause button” on their engagement

“They’re doing well and you know, they have made the decision to keep their relationship out of the public eye, and they’re just not willing to give social media that kind of access to their personal lives. For that, I applaud them,” Todd says.

The young couple got engaged in December 2018 after less than a year of dating. Savannah confirmed to Life & Style in July 2020 that they called off their wedding

Todd always gives his children the advice to not “date because it’s recreational” but rather “date as if you’re looking for a life partner.” He quips, “If Chase was doing that, then Chase was looking to spend his entire life living in Utah in a compound with 50 wives. But you know, thank goodness, he’s kind of outgrown some of that.”

Chase may be the first one to agree with his dad. He exclusively told Life & Style in July that he’s known Emmy for “a couple of years,” but he “had some growing up to do” before they struck up a romance.

For now, they’re taking things one day at a time. “We’re not in a rush to do anything,” Chase said. “We’re enjoying each other’s company and learning more about each other and kind of just taking it day by day. I’m definitely not engaged, that’s for sure!”

Another project in the works is Todd executive producing DeMarcus Family Rules, which premiered August 19th on Netflix. The reality TV series follows Rascal Flatts bassist and singer Jay DeMarcus, his wife Allison and kids. Todd advised Jay, “Sometimes your family can be your worst enemy and you’ve gotta be careful who you do business with and who you have around your family. You’ve got to be able to control the situations to make sure you don’t place your family in harm’s way and to pay very little attention to what people say on social media because you can’t allow someone that you’re never going to meet to have free rent in your head.”

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Chrisley family.
