<p><span></span>It was just like a scene from a movie -- <a href="http://dynamic.bauerpublishing.com/mt-search.fcgi?blog_id=2&tag=kate%20winslet&limit=20&IncludeBlogs=2"><strong>Kate Winslet</strong></a> saving the life of an elderly woman from a burning home -- but it was far from fiction. On Aug. 22, Kate was vacationing with her boyfriend, Louis Dowler, and her two children, Mia and Joe, on Necker Island, Virgin Group mogul <strong>Richard Branson</strong>'s private island in the British Virgin Islands. A lightning storm hit the residence around 4 a.m., causing the mansion to burst into flames. [Kate and her family helped other guests, including Richard's mother, evacuate the building.]</p>
Today, Richard wrote about the family's bravery on his blog. "Special congratulations and lots of hugs went to Kate Winslet's two beautiful children, Mia, 10, and Joe, 7," he wrote. "They were real troupers and two of the bravest kids I've ever come across."
And Kate's kids must have inherited their bravery from their mom. "My son Sam and nephew Jack rushed to the house and helped get everyone out. And many thanks to Kate Winslet for helping to carry my 90-year-old mum out of the main house to safety -- she was wondering when a director was going to shout CUT!" Richard wrote on his blog yesterday.
