She didn't walk away from The Voice a winner, but she did leave with a wonderful relationship.
"[Adam Levine]'s definitely like my big brother," eliminated contestant Melanie Martinez tells Life & Style. "I'm so thankful to say that I was on Team Adam because he has really inspired me just to continue to be myself and has given me the greatest advice."
She elaborates on the his guidance, "Just to continue to be myself and not let anyone else change me and not to be afraid to let the monster come out."
But she wasn't surprised when it was announced she'd be leaving the show on Dec. 4.
"Everyone's so great and I definitely expected it," she tells Life & Style. "I felt it in my heart. Everybody says that you kind of just feel it and whatever happens, happens. Everything happens for a reason."

When it comes to Melanie's future, Adam's not worried.
"[She]'s in great shape," he tells Life & Style. "She has what none of the other artists have: a niche. Melanie has success in the pop universe...she has a group of people that believe and love her that I don't think is every going to go away."
Unfortunately for Adam, he no longer has any of his hopefuls in the competition — Amanda Brown was also given the boot last night. Coach Christina Aguilera is also in the same predicament, so it's a battle between Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton.
Team Blake's Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott will face off against Team Cee Lo's Nicholas David and Trevin Hunte as the final four duke it out next week.
As for Adam and the rest of the season, he says, "I just get to chill."
Hey, that doesn't sound so bad!
