Vera Wang, who? Monique Lhuillier, what? Badgley Mischka, huh?
Who needs to shell out thousands of dollars on a wedding dress when you can create your own for less than $30? That’s just what one creative woman did.
Reddit user alkikat posted her fascinating story on the social networking service, and explained how she was able to create her crochet masterpiece in time for the big day.
“I crocheted my lace wedding dress on the bus during my work commute for about 5 months. The dress is a pattern I designed with a commonly used pineapple stitch,” she said about the beautiful floor-length gown that features cap sleeves and an empire silhouette.
She created the machine-washable (yes, really!) item for a whopping $30. That’s equivalent to buying five grande lattes at Starbucks.
“The dress was practically free because I didn't spend much money on it (under $30 for all of the materials including fabric for the lining) and I didn't spend much extra time on it,” the bride said.
The best part? She can wear it more than once!
“I plan on wearing it again with linings of different colors and with the train bustled up in different ways.”
