With a dining room open only to members and their guests, NYC's Soho House is the perfect place for a low-key private date. But when singer Jessica Simpson and actor Gerard Butler met there for dinner on Oct. 20, they didn't care who saw them flirting up a storm.

"He was trying really hard to make her laugh," says an eyewitness. "And she was laughing at everything he was saying. The two of them were really hitting it off. There definitely seemed to be chemistry between them. He was making her blush and crack up."

For her part, Jess was thrilled by all the attention. After all, she was clearly attracted to Gerard, 39. But she could also have been motivated by a desire for revenge. In early September, two months after she had split with Tony, reports emerged that Jess and former flame John Mayer had reunited. But then John rekindled his romance with Jennifer Aniston, leaving Jess alone again.
