As he enters his third week in the hospital, Lamar Odom is beginning to recall what put him there — and wants others to avoid making the same mistakes.

“Slowly but surely, Lamar’s coming to terms with his reality and wrapping his head around the totality of his near death experience,” a source tells Hollywood Life, adding that the 35-year-old wouldn't mind using Keeping Up With the Kardashians as a platform.
“He knows he escaped death. He doesn’t want this to happen to himself again or to anyone else for that matter – which is why he’s on board with his entire situation being filmed and recorded for KUWTK."

Not only has his own situation put things in perspective, but the deaths of close friends Jamie Sangouthai and Bobby Heyward from drug-related causes have struck a chord as well.

“He owes it to himself, to Khloé, but more importantly, he owes this to Jamie and Bobby,” the insider tells Hollywood Life of the opportunity to share his story. "He wants to help educate people and show them the mistakes and horrible choices he’s made so that people learn from him.”
