“Catcalling” has been a hot topic lately.
First, one woman was so fed up with being harassed while walking down a street that she started filming the creepy men and posted the videos online.
But now, something completely uncalled for has happened. An unidentified man was taken to the hospital after he was attacked for defending a group of women who were being harassed on the street.
According to a report, the 39-year-old, who hails from Texas, was visiting Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square last Saturday night. He witnessed a car of men pull up to a group of women they did not know and start catcalling them - which is when he decided to intervene.
“The male victim took offense to something that the guys were saying to the girls and said, ‘hey, watch what you’re saying,’” said Philadelphia Police Captain George Fuchs.
One of the men exited the vehicle and knocked the victim in the head. He was left unconscious after falling to the concrete and hitting his head on the ground. He is in stable condition.
“This is a tragic, tragic story,” Captain Fuchs told NBC Philadelphia. "Here's a guy trying to stick up for these girls and he gets victimized."
Police are still pursuing the group of men whose Nissan vehicle had Delaware tags.
At least this proves there are people out there in the world who are trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately, there are just as many (if not more) douchebags trying to knock ‘em down.
And can we please quit it with the catcalling? No woman — we repeat: NO WOMAN — likes it unless you're Channing Tatum. Actual Channing Tatum. If you're not him, keep it movin’, bros.
