It’s not easy for celebrities to keep their personal lives private, but Zac Efron did just that.
E! News is reporting that the actor completed a rehab stint about five months ago — and that he’s doing better than ever.
“He’s healthy, happy and not drinking,” a source tells E! “He’s taking time to focus on working.”
In 2009, Zac told GQ magazine that although he enjoys drinking with his friends, he was intent on not partying in the public eye.
“It’s common sense. If you’re gonna be drunk with your friends, don’t get wasted at the Chateau Marmont and hook up with some famous chick,” he told the mag. “It’s not rocket science.”
In recent months, the heartthrob has been working hard to transition from his Disney roles to more serious films.
He attended the Toronto International Film Festival last week to promote his new film Parkland, which opens Oct. 4. The drama revolves around the day John F. Kennedy died. Zac plays the role of the doctor who tries to save the President.
At the festival, the 25-year-old told reporters, “I’m good, real good.”
